MS Word Shortcuts

Microsoft Word is the perfect way of getting thoughts down on (digital) paper, no matter whether they are project drafts or to-do lists. Microsoft provides a large number of keyboard combinations that make using the word processing program that bit easier.

Document Shortcuts

  • Ctrl + S                     Save
  • Ctrl + Shift + S        Save As
  • Ctrl + O                    Open
  • Ctrl + P                     Print
  • Ctrl + N                    New document
  • Alt + F4                    Close a document

Editing Shortcuts

  • Ctrl + A                     Select the whole document
  • Ctrl + X                     Cut the selected text
  • Ctrl + C                     Copy the selected text
  • Ctrl + V                     Paste the copied text
  • Ctrl + Z                      Undo
  • Ctrl + F                      Find the word
  • Shift + Alt + D          Insert Date
  • Shift + Alt + T          Insert Time

Formatting Shortcuts

  • Ctrl + B                     Bold the selected text
  • Ctrl + U                    Underline the selected text
  • Ctrl + I                     Italics the selected text
  • Ctrl + Shift + A      All Caps
  • Ctrl + Shift + K      Small Caps
  • Ctrl + Shift + =      Superscript
  • Ctrl + ]                    Font large by 1pt
  • Ctrl + [                    Font small by 1pt
  • Ctrl + K                  To create hyperlink

Text Alignment

  • Ctrl + E                Center the text
  • Ctrl + L                Left Align
  • Ctrl + R               Right Align
  • Ctrl + J                Justified
